New Pick--Two Thumbs Up!

Premiere Pick

Hello, all.  I've decided to add another page on here, just so you can have something to look at.  This one won't be updated as often as the others, but as I stumble across things that I like or things that I enjoy, I'll pass along the suggestions along to you.  Here's the first one:

I've recently received several games.  Because of this, I recommend three really good games:  Eternal Darkness:  Sanity's Requem, Beyond Good and Evil, and Tales of Symphonia.

Eternal Darkness -- This is a wicked game.  It's for the Gamecube, but it's definitely worth it.  It is very creepy.  The game reminds me alot of Resident Evil in the puzzle solving area and general controls, but one thing that makes this game unique is the sanity meter.  As you see monsters and other creepies in the game, your sanity goes down.  The lower your sanity goes, the more your character hallucinates.  Things are not always what they seem:  my character's sanity was only down a little, and the walls started to bleed.  Also, the lower it goes, the more if effects your gameplay as well, i.e. a window popping up telling you to plug in your controller, even though it's already plugged in, or telling you that you need to insert a memory card to save.  It's truley a treasure, and althought it's kinda old, so the graphics aren't cutting edge, it is one of the most badass games I've played in a while.

Beyond Good and Evil -- This one's harder to get hold of, but it's available for the Playstation 2 and Gamecube.  It's also a very good game.  In this game, you play as Jade, a girl who's only trying to protect her family from the bad guys, (they're names escape me).  As it goes along, you uncover conspiracies linking back to the government, and the deeper into the rabbit hole you get, the more complex things get.  Combat and movement wise it reminds me of Zelda, but that's not necessarily a bad thing.  This game is excellent.  It didn't get the exposure it deserved and so is somewhat overlooked but has been listed on several of the "best of the gamecube" lists.

Tales of Symphonia -- if you like RPGs and Final Fantasy type games, Tales of Symphonia is the game for you.  There are so many things in this game that I can't possibly list them all.  The game itself is so massive it spans onto two gamecube disks.  While the story starts off very cliched, as you play, it sheds its cliche cover and shows you the depth and unpredictableness that it has in store for you.  There are so many things you can do besides the storyline.  There are tons of side quests, some that add depth to characters, some that are just silly and add fun and goofiness.  There are multiple characters, and the things you do in the game can effect what happens later.  It's definitely worth a look.

That's all for now.
